Hey guys, I didn’t expect to be back with another blog for you so soon but my latest post received more love than I thought and I just couldn’t wait to blog. The topic I’m going to discuss today is something that has been on my mind for at least a year now; it’s a topic I wanted to talk to you about at the beginning of my blogging journey however I didn’t think it was fair for me to speak on something that I didn’t practise myself. ‘Practise what you preach’ they say. Now, I feel like I’m finally at a time in my life where I can speak on this because I’m slowly (slowly, but surely) practising it day by day.
Now, before I start I want to briefly speak on the passing of Love Island presenter Caroline Flack who took her own life on 15th February. I’m not wishing to go into depth about what happened to her but for many her death was unexpected and I still don’t quite know what to say. For someone who hopes to one day work in the media industry for some of the biggest companies in the world, I can’t help but admire and look up to Caroline Flack. May she Rest In Peace and may her family and friends be given the strength they need during this time.

I can’t emphasise enough just how important it is to be kind to others but how many of us are also kind to ourselves? As I have previously mentioned in my posts, my confidence in a lot of things isn’t great. My appearance being one for example. I’ve always talked about how I’m my own toughest critic and despite coming across confident to many, those who truly know me know just how tough I can be on myself. I was always reading how we should be kind to ourselves and telling others to do just that, yet I was doing the complete opposite. Recently, I realised that I need to not only speak kindly to myself but to also believe the words I speak. I have caught myself saying things such as ‘you’re amazing’ and ‘I’m proud of you’ on several occasions and it’s because now I truly believe it. We all need to believe that we are special and worthy of happiness, success, love and anything we want! Whether you believe it now or not, keep saying it to yourself until you do because one day you will start to believe it!
Everyday get into a routine of telling yourself just how beautiful you are, just how amazing you are – manifest it all into existence. You are you and that’s your power, that’s what makes you so special. Not one thing or person on this earth can take that away from you. I want to mention that being kind to yourself and loving yourself also means walking away from situations/people that no longer make you happy or serve a purpose in your life. It’s telling yourself that you deserve better and meaning it; that’s what is key – believing it!
Do not be so hard on yourself. You’re trying your best and you’re doing your best. In a world where there can be so much hate and negativity, you need to make sure you’re kind to yourself and to others. A lot of us don’t realise that the way we treat and talk to ourselves can play a big role in how others see and address us. The impact it can have on our mental health is another key reason why I really want those who are reading this and myself to pledge that from now on, only positive words will come out of our mouths. Yes, it is absolutely normal to have a few negative thoughts here and there but the positive thoughts must outweigh them. From a young girl, I was taught about the power of your words. There’s a scripture in the bible that really sums this up:
”What you say can preserve life or destroy it; so you must accept the consequences of your words.” – Proverbs 18:21
Be kind to others. Be kind to you!
Such a poignant blog this Farai. Being kind is now a matter of life or death. RIP Caroline Flack and well done on this so well written and relevant blog. I am so proud of you and love you very much.🥰🤗
