Long time since I’ve shared my music taste on the interrrnet (5 years to be exact) but I’ve missed it and maybe should do it more often?
I pride myself in having an eclectic taste in music so before you continue reading, I need you to have an open mind. No judgement – this is a safe space, remember? 😅
Also, the songs I’m sharing won’t necessarily be new releases but just some favourites that are currently on repeat. Knowing me, I could throw it back to the 90’s, so don’t be surprised!
Oh, and none of this ”I’ll listen to the songs later” business, I’ve included links to every song… You’re welcome 😉
Please note: This is in no particular order.
Starting off strong with hands down one of my favourite songs released this year. ‘Supposed To’ is all about believing that everything works out exactly how it’s supposed to and gives you that gentle reminder to love and pour into yourself with no limitations. I discovered this song at a time when I needed to hear and believe every word. As humans, we’re sometimes way too hard on ourselves, and when I catch myself doing just that, I play this song over and over until I’m feeling good again.
If you live in the UK and still haven’t heard of Miss Olivia Dean then there’s a high chance you’re living under a rock.. a rock located in Alaska. To say Olivia’s had an amazing year musically, would be an understatement. The first song by Miss Dean that caught my attention was ‘Ok, Love You Bye’ and from then on it was history. ‘Baby Steps’ is another song that I found at the right time and thank God I did.
3. RAIN DOWN – Daniel Caesar ft Sampha
I dedicate my Sundays to only listening to Christian artists/music as another way for me to connect with God. Although Daniel Caesar is an R&B and Soul artist, ‘Rain Down’ is a simple song with minimal lyrics asking God to shower His blessings on us. Listening to the song fills me with so much gratitude – definitely a favourite of mine to play, not only on Sundays.
4. TWO CAN PLAY THAT GAME (Radio Edit) – Bobby Brown ft. K-Klass
A vanilla matcha to anyone who can listen to this song, not move an inch and their face remain neutral 🧐 ‘Two Can Play That Game’ is undeniably a 90’s classic that will have you on the dance floor. There are days where I’m in the mood for strictly 90’s/00’s and that’s all you’ll get from me!
An artist I wholeheartedly adore is Sasha Keable – easily one of my favourites. To think I’m yet to see her live is CRAZY but that must change in the near future! I have plenty of Sasha’s songs saved on my playlist but this song in particular and the WhoJiggi remix has me in a chokehold and I’m not afraid to admit it. Would you believe me if I told you ‘Why’ was my most played song in 2025?! Once you listen to it, you’ll understand why…
6. BROTHER & SISTER – Gabriel Jacoby
With this being the first song I ever heard by Gabriel Jacoby, I knew I was in for a treat. I love Gabriel’s combination of funk, soul and R&B. I feel as though ‘Brother & Sister’ hits a little different when you have close relationship with your siblings. I’d describe the song as a beautiful love letter explaining that no matter where you are in the world, they’re always in your heart and want nothing but to protect them.
Fun fact: Michelle Obama recently praised Gabriel’s latest album, ‘Gutta Child’, on Keke Palmer’s podcast. Michelle Obama knows ball. Enough said.
7. BREATHE – Brighter Days Family
Nearly 3 years later and I’m still blasting this song like it’s the first time. I promise you, I can’t play this song once and call it a day… DJ RELOOAAAD IT! ‘Breathe’ really is a breath of fresh air and the song does indeed brighten my day. See what I did there? All jokes aside, I’d best describe this tune as feel good and perfect to blast when the sun is shining. In fact, I sometimes play this as a pick me up and it works – dance like nobodies watching!
8. MAMMA – Zee Nxumalo, Skillz & Sykes
We all know this wouldn’t be an accurate playlist if I didn’t include at least one Amapiano/3 Step tune. It’s no secret, I LOVE this genre very much. I’ve heard some say that all songs sound the same and I’d politely argue that you’ve chosen to not explore the genres with an open mind, because that statement is inaccurate👎🏾
For a while, I couldn’t put my finger on why the ‘Mamma’ beat sounded familiar until recently, when I remembered ‘Good Feeling’ – Flo Rida (skip to 00:21). Surely, I can’t be the only one who can hear the similarity?
Next, I personally believe Reggae music is one of the best genres to play when it’s a cleaning day. Please don’t ask me why, just find the right playlist and give it a try. Deep down, I’ve always had a soft spot for reggae – Tarrus Riley did it for me. ‘Never Find’ has me swaying from side to say and singing my lungs out… Yes, all whilst cleaning.
10. MAGIC – Coldplay
Finally, last but certainly not least… a Coldplay masterpiece. To think this piece is 12 years old is wild to me! When it was first released I don’t think I paid it much attention however, 12 years later in 2026, I’ve found myself having this on repeat. ‘Magic’ – a song I once forgot about, is now my go to.
I’d strongly suggest being open minded and listening to the 10 songs I’ve listed – I’m almost certain you’ll enjoy the sound of at least one! If you end up finishing this blog with a new favourite, I’d love to know! ☺️
