Hey guys! You’re probably tired of seeing/reading countless news articles everyday on COVID 19 and in all honesty, so am I. When it comes to this pandemic, there’s one major rule in my household. Only 1 hour of news a day in the morning and that’s it, we continue with our day. During all of this, I’ve still had to complete and submit uni assignments and I can happily say it has all been submitted. I even submitted an assignment 3/4 weeks before submission, something I have never done before. I feel proud of myself and I think I have every right to feel this way but now that everything’s complete it’s like, what do I do now?
In my previous COVID 19 blog, I suggested a few things that we could all do to keep busy whilst at home. I want to be honest, I’m doing what I can but keeping fit is still a major priority of mine. I’ve got one or two set exercises that I must do everyday but finding the motivation to go on daily jogs is not easy. I WILL NEVER TAKE THE GYM FOR GRANTED AGAIN. To all of you doing something, a massive well done because it’s so much easier to do nothing and for those of you who want to start, you still have plenty of time. I have come across a few really good fitness pages on Instagram and fitness channels on Youtube so if anyone needs some motivation, send me a message via the ‘contact’ page and I’ll happily send you the links.
Now, let me finally get into this blog. Today, I’m basically going to update you on how life has been for me and some of the changes I have made during quarantine. I want to talk about the positives because believe it or not, there are positives in everything if you really look carefully and change your mindset!
A lot of us, whether we like to admit it or not, are guilty of planning things ahead and having this “I’ll do it later” type of attitude. Always thinking that later will come. However, this pandemic has taught me that you really don’t know what later/tomorrow will bring so if you want to do something do it then and there! I tend to be quite forgetful sometimes and I used to write a list of things I would want to do later in my notes, even if there were the simplest of things such as ‘search for … song on youtube’. Ridiculous, right? Well there’s none of that anymore, if something can be done right away then I’ll just do it. Remember, I spoke to you guys about starting that business you’ve always wanted to start, reading that book you’ve always wanted to read… Well NOW, more than ever before, is the time to start and perfect that business plan so as soon as ‘outside’ is open again, you’re ready to showcase it to the world. So this is just one change that I’ve made. Something small but it needed to happen.
There has been another significant change in my life and it’s quite personal but I do want to share my journey just incase anyone is also going through the same thing or feels the same way. For a majority of my life I have always believed in God but naturally, as I got older, I began to innocently question things. Being the inquisitive person I am, this is no surprise. My parents have never ‘forced’ religion on me and 20 years on, I’m still learning all about it. I have never read the bible from beginning to end, only a few verses here and there when I had to learn them in Sunday school. With all that’s going on, I have taken this time to really try and strengthen my relationship with God. A few people around me have given their lives to Christ recently and honestly seeing their growth has been inspiring. One of them being a dear friend of mine who also blogs – https://www.ncaiblog.com. Please check out her posts, especially if you’re trying to strengthen your relationship with God. Now I just want to clarify one thing, I’m not trying to be the ‘perfect’ Christian because there is no such thing. There are just little things I’m doing now in order to grow spiritually. Little things like saying a quick prayer in the morning thanking Him for waking me up and my loved ones then also praying at night, listening to a praise and worship song first thing in the morning and trying to read a scripture a day. I’ve always said to people that your relationship with God is extremely personal! It’s between you and Him and that’s all that matters! I have had a lot of people tell me how a ‘Christian’ should be, how they should act and it has all gone in one ear straight out the other if I’m being perfectly honest. I’ve always said that one day, just one day, if the opportunity arises I will write a book explaining everything that God has done in my life because I just can’t thank him enough. I continue to believe in God, not necessarily because of what I have read, but because of the changes he’s made in my life and the countless amount of blessings. I also feel as though ever since I started to make these changes in my life, I have become a much calmer, understanding and positive person. I’m not saying that these are qualities I lacked before, but now they’re just a lot more evident in my life. I know that there is no situation or obstacle that I can’t overcome and most importantly I know that I’ll come out of every situation wiser, stronger and even more resilient. Most days I wake up feeling really good and on the days that I don’t, that weird mood doesn’t last long. In a world that can at times be full of so much negative energy, I want to spread positivity. It sounds so cheesy I know lol but it’s genuinely how I feel. I just know in my heart that one day I will make a change. One day I will be known for doing something amazing, just one day… Mark my words.
On a lighter note, I miss travelling. A LOT. I’ve been missing it so much that during quarantine I’ve bought several holiday outfits ready for when we’re finally able to safely travel again. I now have a new level of appreciation for this beautiful world we live in. I thought this year would be the year of travelling for me, I had at least five countries on my list to visit this year but it’s ok because next year I shall double that number! I’m going to continue updating my Instagram travel page with some throwback holiday reviews and share what destinations to visit next year. So if you’re into travelling, why not give my travel page a follow: https://instagram.com/travelwithfarai?igshid=hngwdvgbhjft
I’m going to end my blog post here but I hope by reading this it has killed some time and you somehow feel a little bit more positive about everything. I want you to all think about the lessons you have learnt/continue to learn during all of this, because I can guarantee we will all walk away from this with at least one positive, IF we allow ourselves to.
I hope that you all continue to stay safe. Thank you for the support! As always, click ‘follow‘ if you want to be notified the very moment I publish a new post.
Take care guys!
So much personal growth in this blog Mel. Well done 🤗👏
