Life Update: What’s the craic?

I’ve certainly been gone longer than I expected and I think longer than some of you expected as well! I’ve had the odd questions here and there: “so when is the next blog coming?” “what’s taking you so long?” “do you still blog?” and my reaction has quite frankly been:

However, it’s the end of the year so I guess it kind of only makes sense that I write the generic life update/summary of my 2020. Let’s get the negatives out of the way first, shall we? That nuisance Rona is still here and clearly wants to enter into 2021 with us but I’m determined to not let ‘her’ ruin or spoil the New Year for me. I literally refuse to. It just can’t happen.

I turned the big 2 1 last month and it was definitely a bitter sweet feeling at first. I’m officially an adult, something that I definitely could’ve waited another few years for – but it’s here now. Turning 21 itself is a massive blessing, but even more so now with everything going on in the world. Having spent 21 years on this earth I’ve experienced and learnt a whole lot:

  • It’s ok to laugh at yourself sometimes, in fact it’s a good thing. Don’t take yourself or this thing we call ‘life’ so seriously sometimes.
  • Understand that not all missed opportunities are missed opportunities.
  • If it’s meant to be, it will always be.
  • I have a choice. I can choose to see the positive in things instead of dwelling on the negatives. I choose to be happy.
  • Do not stay in situations that aren’t healthy/don’t help you grow due to being comfortable.
  • A lot of things we stress about today won’t matter a year, or even a week from now, so what’s the point in stressing?
  • Oh, also let’s not forget to say NO to stressing/being upset over things beyond our control!

Life really is all about growth, making mistakes then learning from them and just trying to live your best life (even during a pandemic). This year was probably the most reflective year I’ve had, and a lot of you would probably agree. It’s been a year where I’ve really had to take care of my mental health and put it before anyone and anything else. So much so, in October I randomly decided to get away for a few days and explore a new city by MYSELF. To this day no one knows where I was, excluding my mum (for safety reasons of course!) It was definitely a spontaneous move but it was needed and I’ll probably do it again in the New Year. It’s been a year where I’ve learned to appreciate and be grateful for every single thing but most importantly good health.

2021 is around the corner and whether we’re ready for it or not, it’s coming in fast and strong. What I do know, is that if we can get through 2020 then whatever 2021 decides to throw at us, we’ll overcome it!

”Promise yourself to look at the sunny side of everything.”

Sending you love during this difficult time and wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
